A fire at the Crestlane Apartments in Kankakee Monday evening did an estimated $25,000 in damage. It was a food fire, according to reports, unattended frying food. No one was injured from the fire itself. A tenant from a downstairs apartment needed medical help for an unrelated issue. Fire crews from Bradley, Bourbonnais and Limestone joined Kankakee at the scene for 2 hours.
The call was received at 9:50 pm for the fire in apartment 307. The building has 12 units. Significant damage reported to the apartment and an adjacent unit. The two apartments can not be re-occupied.
