E-Scooter Ordinances under review

A Will County traffic accident that seriously injured a teenager has some communities taking another look at their existing ordinances.  Safety is an issue.  Concerns about the speed of E-scooters and where they're allowed to be driven may lead to revised laws.

A 13-year-old suffered serious injuries, including multiple broken bones when a motorized mini-bike operated by the juvenile failed to yield at an intersection. The mini-bike was driven into the passenger side of an SUV.  The youth was transported to an area hospital by fire district personnel.  Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley reminds parents/guardians that allowing children to operate motorized vehicles like e-scooters and mini-bikes on public roadways is both illegal and extremely dangerous.
