The Iroquois County Board (Tuesday) passed a Resolution honoring Iroquois West high school senior Aubrey Chandler. Miss Chandler recently placed 3rd in the Junior 2025 Illinois State Smallbore Championships at the Illinois State Rifle Association's outdoor range shooting competition.
A member of the Iroquois West - Clifton Central Co-op Rifle Club, Miss Chandler entered competition shooting with a .22 caliber small bore rifle. She began shooting her freshman year of high school, one of about 30 students participating in the program. Doug and Jim Miller are the sport's instructors.
Aubrey said she finds the sport fun and fascinating and is a bit surprised there's more females than males involved in the sport. Miss Chandler is also active in FFA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Choir and Band. She's the daughter of Greg & Aimee Chandler.
The Iroquois County Board Resolution extends a Congratulations to Aubrey. Board Chairman Paul Ducat said "I want to promote the youth of Iroquois County and find it a pleasure to honor Miss Chandler for her outstanding accomplishment."
