The Will County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police are investigating a traffic crash that left an off-duty Joliet Police Officer dead.  47-year-old  Sgt. Hollis Weller of Beecher was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police report the accident happened on Dixie Highway near Eagle Lake Road in Beecher.  The crash involved a passenger car, pickup truck and a semi. Another person was taken to an area hospital with injuries.

Sgt. Weller was a 20-year veteran of the Joliet department. He was a decorated officer recognized with numerous awards, including the Award for Heroism in 2015.  He is survived by his wife and three children.
