Boys track and field
IHSA class 1A Seneca Sectional:
Bishop McNamara's 4x800 relay team of Sebastian Cortes, Cooper Austiff, Jack Purcell and Justice Provost won a sectional title to move on to state. The team of Rhys Landman, Christian Williams, Micah Lee and Malachi Lee took second in both the 4x100 relay and 4x200 relay to advance as well. Also for the Irish, Malachi Lee qualified in the triple jump and long jump, Brock Clott is moving on in the discus and shot put (14.81), Cale Hamilton advanced in the shot put, and Elijah Muthami made it in the 3,200 meters.
Wilmington's Hunter Kaitschuck placed first in the 110 hurdles and Billy Moore won the 200 meters. Moore also qualified in the 100 meters. Joining them is the 4x400 relay team of Fynn Bryant, Nate Cupples, Cole Boersma and Jimmy Lewsander while Bryant, Cupples, Lewsander and Moore took third in the 4x100 relay to move on to state as well
Beecher’s Wences Baumgartner tied with Peotone’s Adam Murray in the high jump to send both to state. Baumgartner qualified for state as well with a third-place finish in the triple jump.
Momence’s Michael Tincher won a sectional title in the 400 meters.
IHSA Class 3A Bloomington Sectional
LyZale Edmon of Bradley-Bourbonnais qualified for state with a second-place finish in the 200 meters and a sixth-place finish in the 100 meters. He was also on the qualifying 4x200 relay team with Brandon Sumrall, Jamir Burt and Kyron Burk and the qualifying 4x100 relay team with Seth Teague, Kyren Edmon and Sumrall. Additionally, Kayden Bowens placed second in the triple jump to advance to state while Burt made his way with a fifth-place finish in the 110 hurdles.
Kankakee’s Phillip Turner placed second in the 400 meters and George Noble took fifth in the 100 meters to qualify. Also going to state is the 4x100 relay of Noble, Turner, Ky-mani Billings and Dominic White, the 4x400 relay of Noble, Dominic White, Davion White and Turner and the 4x200 relay of Noble, Dominic White, Billings and Braden Jordan.
