Sideline reporter and former Illini long snapper Michael Martin announced on social media today that he will not be in his usual spot as a part of the Illini Football Radio Crew this season. Here is the message he posted on X:

"Some personal news: I was notified a few weeks ago that I would not be asked to return as the radio sideline reporter for the 2026 Illini Football Season. I'm disappointed in the decision. Thank you to my colleagues and our listeners- it was a privilege share each game with you."
