32-year-old Stephanie Harmon of Watseka is jailed in Iroquois County following her arrest (Friday). She’s charged with a Class 2 felony – aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Watseka Police say Harmon admitted allegations were true – that she was involved in a sexual relationship with a student from an Iroquois County school. Harmon’s arrest wrapped up a one-month investigation after police were alerted to the complaint of a sexual assault in mid-August.

Police interviewed the alleged-victim and teacher after learning a teacher from an Iroquois County school was involved in a sexual relationship with a student from the school.

Harmon’s arrest and the Aggravated criminal sexual assault charge is due to the victim’s age and Harmon’s position of trust and authority.

Police report the sexual assault did not occur in the school, and the school is not in the City of Watseka. The alleged sexual assault occurred at Harmon’s Watseka residence.
