United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties supports ‘Giving Tuesday’

Give Local, Give Now ! The Executive Director of the United Way for Kankakee and Iroquois Counties is asking for support for this year’s Giving Tuesday event. Kerstin Rust says in a letter to the communities, there’s rising needs, yet declining funds.

Contributions to the United Way helps support 40 local programs that focus on improving the health, education and financial stability of our neighbors. The funding is made entirely possible by local community support from individuals and local businesses.

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is designated as Giving Tuesday and thousands of people locally and across the world will make a difference by donating to their favorite nonprofit.

The United Way encourages to participate in Giving Tuesday locally, and stated in a news release that 51,000 households in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties cannot afford the most basic household budget. Learn more at myunitedway.org/givenow.
