SUV crash at St. Anne Grade School forces evacuation

The driver of an SUV may have suffered a medical episode late Friday morning.  Emergency responders reported the driver ran off West Sheffield Street, ran through a fence in front of the playground area at the grade school, took out some playground equipment, and hit a gas line -- before crashing into the school building.  School officials reported no injury to school personnel.  Fortunately, no students were outside at the time.

School Supertiendent Charles Stegall reported damage to the building was still being evaluated.  The gas leak did force an evacuation of the building.  The St. Anne Fire Department swept the building before an all-clear was issued.  Students were allowed to return.  St. Anne Grade School then moved to an early-release day for caution.
