Storm damage reported in Illinois suburbs

The NWS Storm Damage Assessment Teams will be out-and-about looking at the runs from last night’s storm activity in Illinois. Dekalb County and the NW suburbs were hardest hit with damaged buildings and power outages reported. Several trees were torn up and some uprooted. Winds and heavy rain led to some drivers seeking shelter in the Illinois Tollway west of Barrington. ComEd reported some 6,000 customers without power.

At least five tornadoes were reported. Damage was reported at Waubonsee Community College at Sugar Grove and in Henry County where farm buildings were destroyed.

A big turnaround with the temps…..from 70 degrees + the last two days to a drop of 50 degrees today (Wed). High today near 30 with winds WNW 25 -30 mph. Winds could gust to near 40 mph.
