RVM reaches ridership milestone

Another milestone reached for River Valley Metro Mass Transit. The numbers continue to show the value of public transportation in the Kankakee area.

On April 30th, RVM surpassed 14 million rides since the company began serving the community in 1999. “This number reflects the need in our community for safe and reliable public transportation”, said Managing Director Siron Sims. “Whether the need is to get to work, school, appointments, shopping, or social visits, River Valley Metro is here to help people with their transportation needs.”

April also saw two River Valley Metro monthly ridership records broken. Service to Midway Airport provided more than 2800 rides in April, and thye Metro Plus paratransit service provided more than 1900 rides.

River Valley Metro Mass Transit District serves the urbanized area of Kankakee County with over 300 bus stops on 13 routes throughout the area. The company also provides commuter bus service to Midway Airport from Bourbonnais and Manteno. Additionally, Metro Plus provides bus service by appointment for those who meet ADA eligibility requirements.
