Two people self-rescued on the Kankakee River (Sunday) when the jet-ski they were on went over the dam. Kankakee Fire was dispatched. The two victims, both wearing life jackets, were in the water when fire crews arrived. The victims reported they were riding the jet-ski above the dam, were unfamiliar with the river and just got too close, the river’s current took them over the dam. No one was injured. Neither the jet-ski driver nor the passenger were local people. The fire department assisted in the recovery of the jet-ski.
