The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department is advising the public about a phone scam.  The warning comes after reports of a caller pretends to be a deputy.  The caller  (coming from a sheriff department identified number) identifies himself as a ranking officer, such as Sgt and then directs the would-be victim to call another number (630-765-5237).  The calls are not legitimate and local residents are advised not to give the caller any personal information about yourself.  The sheriff's office says hang up and ignore such callers.
