A flood watch was issued this (Wednesday) morning in effect from 10 am to 9 pm ahead of thunderstorms expected in surrounding areas. On Tuesday, weather officials said torrential and excessive rainfall was to expected today, and up to 80 mph wind and large hail in portions of central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana.

The NWS advises those people in flood-prone areas to take needed precautionary measures. Motorists need to also be aware of changing road conditions and pay attention to sudden flash flooding or barricaded roads.
