A fire at a vacant home in Kankakee alerted firefighters Thursday afternoon. There was heavy smoke and flames seen coming from the rear of house in the 500-block of S. Moore. The cause appeared to be electricl in nature. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at between $30 - $40,000. The fire was ruled accidental.
