Jobs Up, Unemployment Rates Stable in December

Jobs increased over-the-year in all fourteen Illinois metropolitan areas in December according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The unemployment rate decreased in thirteen metropolitan areas and increased in one.

Bloomington had the stat'[s lowest unemployment in December at 3.1%.  Kankakee County was listed at 5.1%, down from 5.3% in 2021.  Vermilion County and Champaign County dropped...Danville from 5% to 4.8 and Champaign County went from 3.4 to 3.2%. 

Iroquois County unemployment in December was un-changed at 4% from 2021 while Ford County unemploymenty was up in December, 3.6% from 3.3 in 2021.
