ISP plans Distracted Driving Enforcement in June

Illinois State Police will conduct Distracted Driving Enforcement Program patrols in area counties in June.  Patrols are planned in Ford, Iroquois and Kankakee counties, and also in Livingston and McLean Counties June 23, 26, 28 and 30th.  The program allows troopers to focus on distracted driving laws to prevent deaths and serious injury crashes.

Special Traffic Enforcement Patrols (Step) were conducted during May in Champaign County.  The Step patrols allowed for increased enforcement for impaired driving, occupant restraint, speeding, and distracted driving violations during the National "Click It or Ticket" Campaign.

There were 230 citations issued, including 154 speeding tickets and warnings, 28 occupant restraint violations, and four distracted driving citations/warnings.
