The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that construction is underway on Interstate 57 in Iroquois County. The work zone will be from the Buckley interchange (exit 272) to the Ford County line.
The project will patch and resurface the road, including the Main Line Station Rest Area parking lot. Also, repairs will be made to bridges carrying Iroquois County Highway 10 over I-57 and I-57 over Spring Creek and Louis Creek. Work this year will be on the northbound lanes before shifting to the southbound lanes in spring 2026. This $30.6 million project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic.
