Hoopeston truck driver charged in death of Indiana construction worker

A fatal traffic accident near Lowell, IN more than a year ago now finds a Hoopeston man facing Reckless Homicide.  This comes for the 2020 death of a construction worker along U.S. 41.  A 63-year-old Demotte man was killed.  Martin Nip lost his life when the truck he was driving while spraying a road-sealant along the shoulder was hit by a semi.

The Hoopeston truck driver, 69-year-old Kart Johnson, was only slightly injured.  The investigastion showed police found a porn website on Johnson's cellphone.  Johsnon was also charged with Criminal Recklessness and Driving Whoile Distracted.

Fatal Crash at Dwight --

A Morris woman was killed Thursday in a traffic crash on Route 47 at Dwight.  The victim wasn't identified pending family notification.  The Grundy County Coroner's Office reports the woman was exiting a driveway when a semi hit her car on the driver's side.  The truck driver was not injured.
