Regional Girls basketball championships were played Thursday evening with Cissna Park and Watseka among area teams advancing to Sectional action next week.

Cissna Park won its own Class 1A Regional with a 46-33 win over Dwight.  It was the Timberwolves second consectutive Regional title.  Cissna Park (25-7) meets LeRoy in the Ridgeview Sectional  Tuesday, February 20.  LeRoy won its own 1A Regional defeating Mt. Pulaski 51-40.

Watseka won its 3rd straight Regional Title defeating St. Thomas More 43-27 at the Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin Regional.  It's Watseka's 8th Regional Champiosnhip since 2013.  The Warriors (26-4) advance to the Iroquois West Sectional next Tuesday to meet Manteno.  The Manteno Panthers upset Coal City 30-27 at Manteno.  (Coal City season ends at 22-4.
