Former Iroquois County Health Department Administrator arrested

Felony charges against the former administrator of the Iroquois County Health Department surfaced Wednesday after a two-year investigation by the Illinois State Police. Dee Anne Schippert is jailed in Iroquois County.   Thirty-three felony charges include 17 counts of Official Misconduct, 8 counts of Forgery, 6 counts of Theft of Government property, and two more counts of Theft.

Illinois State Police arrested Schippert Wednesday.  A court appearance is expected (today) in Watseka.

Chief Judge of the 21st Circuit, Thomas Cunnington, will have to assign the case after Iroquois County Judges Michael Sabol and Kara Bartucci recused themselves.

The Illinois State Police , Criminal Investigation Division, and the Attorney General's Office were involved in the lengthy investigation.  A "No Bond" Bench Warrant was issued with the arrest in Champaign County.  Schippert was returned to Iroquois  County.  The State also motioned to unseal a Search Warrant.

Schippert and the health deportment have been under investigation after alleged allegations of personnel mistreatment, misappropriations of funds, and lack of accountability in working overtime payments.  Months of investigating by State Police led to the Attorney General's involvement.
