A Thanksgiving Day house fire in Paxton displaced a family of five. No injuries were reported. It was a garage fire that burned out of control after a turkey in a fryer was left unattended. The flames spread to the south side of a house on Elm Street.
Paxton Fire answered the call to the 300-block of Elm around 11 am. Buckley and Loda Fire also responded. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
A house in Elliott is a total loss after fire destroyed it Saturday night. A chimney fire spread to the attic. Elliott Fire had support from Roberts, Melvin and Gibson City. Firefighters battled 35 mph winds for some five hours. The fire was at Market & High Streets.
