Flooded Roads: Motorists urged to use caution

Paxton was among the hardest-hit communities affected  by flooding the last several days. Reports of 10 –plus inches of rain overwhelmed the Ford County town.  Cleanup efforts are continuing in central-Illinois.

Gibson City is cleaning up. Flooded roads and farm fields also affected Thomasboro and Rantoul.

In Iroquois County, Cissna Park, Buckley and Loda are dealing with a lot of water.  Milford always braces for high water levels –a Flood Warning is in effect until at least 9 am Tuesday for Sugar Creek near Milford.

Several roads in Champaign and Vermilion County have posted advisories. Many homes and businesses have flooded basements.  Emergency agencies advise drivers not to take a chance:  If you experience a flooded route, turn around.
