Contested races, local issues on today’s ballot for Illinois Primary

Voters in surrounding counties have matters of interest on today’s ballot for the 2022 Illinois Primary Election. Besides the statewide governor contests on both the Democratic and Republican ballots, there are contested races for Secretary of State on both tickets and congressional seats are up for grabs.

In Iroquois County – three of four County Board districts offers voters a choice. Three county offices are un-contested – for Sheriff, County Clerk & County Treasurer. The Regional School Sup’t for Kankakee and Iroquois County is also un-contested.

Kankakee County voters have several races for County Board seats.

Kankakee County also has three referenda questions --- in Pembroke and Limestone Townships. And the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District is looking to increase its tax levy. Limestone Township Library District voters are asked if the tax limit should be raised while the Pembroke voters are asked if the township should be allowed to utilize resources to meet energy needs.
