Church break-in investigated in Benton County

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in at the Methodist Church in Ambia. Anyone with info about the incident can reach out to the local sheriff's department 765-884-0080.

A deputy was called to the church on July 30th after someone broke a ground-level window and entered the church.  Police reported the pastor and another church member told the deputy nothing appeared to be missing at first, but they later discovered a donation jug containing $50 was missing. The jug was described as a blue-tinted Culligan 5-gallon water jug with a sign taped on it that said: “Corner Cupboard Food Pantry we appreciate your donations.”

During the investigation, droplets of blood were found scattered around the basement of the church and were collected as evidence.  The suspect is described as a man wearing a light-colored t-shirt who rode up to the church on a bicycle around 1:45 a.m. on July 30th. The investigation is ongoing.
