A fatal shooting Sunday in Kankakee is under investigation. A 40-year-old man was killed. Another man was treated at an area hospital for what police reported as a non-life-threatening wound.

Police report 40-year-old Randal D. Young was pronounced dead at Riverside Medical Center. Young’s 59-year-old father suffered a non-life-threatening wound. Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Merchant Street for a report of shots fired around 3:30 pm. Officers found the two victims in the front yard. The Kankakee Fire Department transported the shooting victims to Riverside Hospital.

Kankakee police were assisted by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office.
