The Illinois State Police and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal are recognizing telecommunicators during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. It's observed April 12–18. Officials said telecommunicators play a critical role in emergency responses by dispatching help and supporting first responders during crises.
ISP’s Telecommunication Services Bureau operates six communications centers statewide with about 115 telecommunicators providing routine and emergency communication for state, federal and local agencies.
