Paul Meuser gets probation for grooming, indecent solicitation of a child

— Ford County -- A former Paxton-Buckley-Loda teacher was sentenced to probation Monday for sexual crimes against children. 72-year-old Paul Meuser of Buckley appeared in court for sentencing two months after entering his guilty plea. Prosecutors negotiated a 30-month probation sentence. The Livingston County judge assigned the case also imposed a 10-year registry as a sex offender.  Meuser had also been charged with grooming and indecent solicitation of a child.  Both were were Class 4 felonies. 

Meuser was a P.E. and Driver's Education instructor in the school district. Meuser’s conduct came under investigation in March of this year, and he was placed on administrative leave on March 8. He resigned from the PBL School District on March 11, and an arrest warrant was issued on March 15.

The attempted criminal sexual assault charges against Meuser were dismissed as part of his plea deal. Court records show that after being sentenced to probation, Meuser was allowed to have his GPS monitoring bracelet removed, and state sex offender registries show he registered as ordered. The court order also imposed a $43-hundred dollar fine for court fees.
