Three candidates for a judicial vacancy in Ford County filed nominating petitions today at the State Board of Elections in Springfield.

Today is the first day for filings. Petitions will be accepted until next Monday.

Ford County State's Attorney Matt Fitton of Paxton, attorney Ellen Lee of Paxton and Ross Sorensen of rural Buckley, have all filed nominating petitions.

The three candidates, all filing to run in the Republican primary election on March 18, 2014, are seeking to succeed Judge Steve Pacey in the 11th Judicial Circuit. Pacey announced his resignation earlier this month. His last day on the bench will be Dec. 31.

The circuit includes Ford, Livingston, Logan, McLean and Woodford counties.
