Dr. Emily Fernandez is currently Chief Resident in Texas, but will begin her practice at IMH in August of 2010. Fernandez will be a family practitioner with obstetrics. She is a wife and mother of four. The luncheon also served to say good-bye to current Chair of Community Benefits, Carolyn Cottrell. This was Cottrell’s final luncheon as Chair of Community Benefits. She is retiring from the position after fourteen years of service. Speakers included Linda Cohen of GE, Dr. John Tricou, Director of Radiology at IMH, Dr. Rebecca Salvani, Carol Dexter, RN, and Becy Stark, RN. Cohen discussed the benefits of new digital technology in screening for breast cancer. However, all shared an overall theme that early detection and screening is the key to women’s healthcare.
