State Disaster Proclamation issued for Kankakee County

Kankakee, IL – State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R – Kankakee) announced today that Governor Bruce Rauner had issued a state disaster proclamation for Kankakee County.

“Kankakee has seen severe flooding these last few days. This proclamation will activate state emergency operations in Springfield to coordinate with our local officials to keep our residents safe and protect important infrastructure,” Rep. Parkhurst stated.

More heavy rainfall is in the forecast this weekend in Illinois.

For that reason, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency's (IEMA) acting director, Jennifer Ricker, is reminding people to use caution when driving in flooded areas and to turn around if roads are flooded.
