Construction Delays Expected on I-57, Route 50 >

Area motorists can expect approximate 15-minute delays tonight, Thursday and Friday nights along Interstate 57 in Kankakee.

Department of Transportation (DOT) crews will be closing the routes, periodically, while bridge I-beams are removed as part of a construction project.  Both northbound and southbound lanes will be affected. The delays will be in effect between 10 pm and 6 am all three nights.

106th House, 53rd Senate Candidates Debate in Pontiac >

Political candidates for the Illinois legislature were in Pontiac Tuesday night calling for lawmakers to work together in finding solutions for the fiscal climate. 

The program was held at Pontiac Township Hiugh School.

The five candidates running for the newly-redrawn 106th Illinois House district had differing views on the state's condition.

Invited candidates included Scott McCoy and Brian Gabor of Pontiac, Josh Harms of Watseka, Tom Bennett of Gibson City and Richard Thomas of Dwight.

Fairbury man accused of Pontiac arson

Police in Pontiac are investigating an arson that might be connected to earlier threats called in to Pontiac Township High School.

 A Fairbury man was arrested in connection with a fire set in a trash bin near the Pontiac Junior High School Friday night.  21-yr-old Dustin P. Moser faces charges of arson, felony criminal damage to property and a parole violation.

During their investigation, police found a cellular phone used to place a 911 call reporting the fire, as well as a portable scanner, a number of cellular phones and a two-way radio.

Police continue to investigate the fire and any connection to radio pranks at Pontiac Township High School on Jan. 5.

Remington couple killed in crash

WHITE COUNTY, Ind.  -  A Remington husband and wife are dead after a crash in White County Saturday morning.

White County Sheriff's Police in Indiana report A Saturday morning crash killed a couple from Remington. The husband-wife. 58-yr-old Ronald and 60-yr-old Rita Lewis, were pronounced dead at the scene of crash at State Road 18 and U.S. 231.

According to police, 33-year-old Courtney Hunley, of Lafayette, was eastbound on State Road 18 when she failed to yield the right of way to  Ronald Lewis, who was southbound.

Hunley and her passenger, 29-year-old Tyra Erb, of Francesville, were treated for injuries at Franciscan Saint Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette.

It's unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, and toxicology results are pending. Police said the crash is still under investigation.

Donovan Students Involved in Rollover Accident >

Five Donovan high school students were treated for injuries after a 16-year-old driver of a car rolled the vehicle Friday morning.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police responded to the accident in Beaver Township at County Roads 3100 E and 2600 N.

 Jordan Cooper of Martinton swerved to miss a deer.  Cooper lost control and overturned the car in a ditch.  The driver and four student-passengers were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Jordan though, was cited for an Illinois law prohibiting teen drivers from having more than one passenger under the age of 20.
