Kankakee State Park: Lewd Acts Net Arrest

KANKAKEE --  Illinois State Police arrested a Peotone man Tuesday after he committed a lewd act in the Kankakee State Park.

Sixty-year-old Ronald C. Noble was jailed at the Jerome Combs Detention Center on a charge of public indecency.

 A trooper was patrolling the park Tuesday morning when he observed Noble outside of his vehicle performing a lewd act. He immediately was taken into custody.

Noble is the eighth man to be arrested for either public indecency or insulting battery at the park since April 1. Illinois State Police District 21 and Zone 3 Investigations, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police and the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office have combined efforts to address the ongoing problem.

Herscher Man Faces Sexual Assault Charges

The Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office reports a 61-year-old Herscher man is accused of sexually abusing two young relatives.

Charles Baker was arrested March 16th and charged with a Class 1 felony of criminal sexual assault.  He also faces a Class 2 felony for 5-counts of criminal sexual abuse.

The alleged abuse occurred over a four-year period.

Iroquois County Court Dispositions >

WATSEKA --  In Iroquois Circuit Court Tuesday, two Kankakee men facing felony theft charges from the Iroquois Paving Corporation were allowed to bond out of jail while a Champaign man facing a DUI charge agreed to a 30-month probation term.

Matthew Jones and John Rosenthal are accused of stealing scrap metal belonging to Iroquois Paving of Watseka.

Judge Gordon Lustfeldt freed Jones on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond while co-defendant Rosenthal was granted a $2,000 bond, as requested by Public Defender Dale Strough.  Both men, it was pointed out by Assistant State’s Attorney Alex O’Brien, have prior felony records.

Accused Killer Pleads “Not Guilty” in Kankakee Shooting

31-year-old Luther Starkey appeared in Kankakee Circuit Court Tuesday where he entered a ‘not guilty’ plea to murder and attempted murder.  Starkey remains jailed in the Jerome Combs Detention Center on a one-million dollar bond.

During an arraignment hearing, Starkey was informed a grand jury indicted hom on charges of murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery.

He’s accused of the March 10th shooting death of 24-year-old Tyrone Kennedy and the wounding of Kennedy’s cousin, Darrien Kennedy.  Darrien was seriously injured.  The shooting took place in the 900-block of N. Harrison Avenue in Kankakee.

Kankakee Shooting Victim Dies, Organs Donated >

Sunday afternoon’s shooting victim in Kankakee has died.  27-year-old Jerome Lucius was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Riverside Medical Center.  WGFA News reported Tuesday that Lucius had died, but Kankakee County officials said his death announcement had been on-hold while his organs were harvested for donation.

The death investigation continues.  An autopsy is scheduled today (Thurs).

Lucius was shot in a car parked along N. Taylor Avenue in Kankakee.

While that shooting investigation was underway, authorities discovered the shooting death of 32-year-old Tawayne Sharp early Monday morning.  He was found in  a car in Limestone Township near the intersection of 4500 W and 2000 S Roads.

Police are asking anyone with info about the crimes to contact investigators.
