While many area school districts have managed to avoid the outbreaks of coronavirus cases, some additional district officials are being forced to make adjustments after students and staff tested positive. Governor J.B. Pritizker placed new restrictions in place last week. That’s forced some districts to go back to remote learning. Regions 1,5, 7 and 8 of the Restore Illinois Plan are under increased mitigation standards due to rising positivity rates. Bourbonnais and Kankakee school districts, in Region 7, continue to offer in-person learning.
New reports of positive testing surfaced last week. Central Community Unit District 4 at Clifton officials said a student at the high school tested positive. There were five more positive cases of the virus at Herscher District 2, two at the at the high school, two at Limestone Middle School and one at Bonfield Grade School. The district reported 95 students in isolation.
The South Newton School Corporation closed for two weeks last week. The hope is to resume November 3.
