Residential fire in Kankakee this morning

There was no injury and the cause of a morning fire in Kankakee is under investigation. Firemen were called to the 200-block of N. 6th Avenue. Minor to moderate damage reported, according to Fire Chief Damon Schuldt.

Gas station robbery in Danville leads to 2 arrests

Danville Police are looking into any connection between two recent robberies. Two people are jailed for a Monday night armed robbery at a Casey’s General Store on Voorhees Street. The suspects were found in possession of cash and other items taken in the robbery about 11:30 pm

Police report no one was injured when the pair, wearing masks and black hooded-sweatshirts, demanded cash while pointing a handgun, then fled.

19-year-old Courtland Rowell and 27-year-old Elizabeth Roberson are charged with armed robbery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm. Police are investigating to see if the robbery of another Casey’s on E. Main Street Sunday night is connected to this case.
