Kankakee County is hosting America’s Run for the Fallen tomorrow (Tuesday).
The national effort is a military tribute, featuring several runners helping to cover individual miles for individually-recognized war heroes.
Tuesday’s event in Kankakee County is considered a ‘blazing tribute trail across the nation spanning 6,000 miles over 19 states in five-months. Volunteers, service organizations, veterans groups...will recognize nearly 20,000 fallen service members since the USS Cole.
The Run for the Fallen began at Fort Irwin, CA winds across country to Arlington National Cemetery.
Tuesday’s local event will pass Riverside Medical Center along Route 113 to Route 17 / Court Street to the Kankakee County Cthouse lawn where a brief ceremony is planned between 4-5 pm.
The Marine Corps Honor Guard will be involved. The Run resumes Wednesday with the journey making its way thru St. Anne on east into Indiana.
