Show Bus looks to buy vehicles, expand service

An Illinois Department of Transportation grant may help Show Bus expand its fleet of vehicles and acquire its own building.

Two grants would allow the six-county rural public transportation provider, to expand its fleet and maybe purchase a building it is now leasing.

The McLean County Board Tuesday approved a capital assistance application that would bring about $2.5 million to Show Bus.

If approved, the money would be divided up to allow for vehicles, dispatching equipment and equipment maintenance.

Show Bus Director Laura Dick said the new vehicles would allow the system, which serves McLean, DeWitt, Ford, Iroquois, Livingston and Macon counties, to expand its fleet and replace some aging vehicles.
