Police Chase Leads to Arrest of East Lynn Man

An East Lynn man is jailed in Watseka on a $250,000 bond after his arrest for leading police on a chase in Vermilion and Iroquois counties Thursday.  25-year-old Michael Rogers faces several charges, including aggravated reckless driving and Aggravated fleeing & alluding police.

Rogers’ sister, 29-year-old Heather Rogers of Hoopeston, is also charged for trying to run a pursuing police officer off the road, while the officer gave chase to Michael Rogers.

Heather Rogers posted a $5,000 bond for Obstructing Justice and Aggravated Reckless Driving, a Class 4 felony.

Both defendants appeared in Iroquois Circuit Court Friday afternoon.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, Milford Police, Vermilion County Sheriff’s officers and the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) were also joined by the FBI in arresting Michael Rogers.  He led police on a pursuit from Hoopeston into Iroquois County before crashing a stolen pickup truck in Milford.

At the time of the arrest, Rogers was wanted on an Iroquois County warrant for Burglary and Theft.  He was also wanted in Vermilion County on warrants for Burglary and Driving While License Revoked.

The Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office reported Heather Rogers attempted to steer a police officer off the road while the officer was in pursuit of her brother’s stolen vehicle.
