The Democratic leaders representing the 40th legislative district in Illinois will hear from four candidates interested in replacing former state senator Toi Hutchinson. A 5 pm meeting is scheduled Friday in the Iroquois Room at Kankakee Community College.
The four candidates have expressed their desire to serve the 40th District, which includes Kankakee County. The Democratic leaders making up the district will choose Hutchinson’s successor. She stepped down from the post she’s held the last 10 years to become the new coordinator of the agency to oversee the legalization of recreational marijuana in Illinois.
