Police Standoff, Fairbury Man in Custody

--A Fairbury man faces a charge of reckless discharge of a weapon after he allegedly fired at police in rural Livingston County.

Arnold Munz was taken into custody Thursday night. No injury was reported during the standoff.  Munz faces preliminary charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm with no firearm owner's ID card, criminal damage to property and aggravated assault with a firearm, according to a statement issued by the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

Police were called to county roads 2000 East and 9567 North for a possible drunk driver who had driven through a yard. A few minutes later, the vehicle returned and the driver fired at the people who had called police.

Police said Munz returned to his residence where he fired at deputies and the county Proactive Unit. Officers surrounded the house and deputies used a public-address system to call Munz, who did not respond.

Officers entered the home at 10:24 p.m. and Munz was taken into custody without incident.

Pontiac police and canine units, Southeast Livingston County Ambulance Service, Fairbury police and Illinois State Police were all involved.
