Watseka volunteers needed for funeral of Army Sgt. Jeremy Sherman

Volunteers from Watseka are asked to support “The Flagman’s Mission Continues” in setting up U.S. Flags for the military funeral of Sgt. Jeremy Sherman of the United States Army. Sgt. Sherman was one of five American soldiers and two other peacekeepers who died in a helicopter crash during a mission in Egypt November 12.

The funeral for Sgt. Sherman is November 30 at the Trinity Church in Watseka. Help is needed on Friday, November 27 to set up 2,000 plus 3x5 foot U.S. flags along the funeral route. After the funeral, help is also needed again on Tuesday, December 1 at 9 am to take the flags down and reload them into a trailer.

Volunteers for “The Flagman’s Mission Continues” event are asked to meet at the Trinity Church parking lot along East Walnut Street in Watseka at 12 Noon Friday, November 27. Instructions will be provided on how to unfurl the flags and use post-drivers to display the flags. Volunteers are advised to bring work gloves. Pick-up trucks would be most welcome to take flags from the trailer at the church for setup at locations.

The Monday, November 30 funeral service is from 11 am ‘til 2 pm a funeral at 2:30 pm at Trinity Church. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Watseka American Legion Post 23.
