Chad Bertrand jailed after 5-day investigation

The alleged sexual assault of a juvenile led to the arrest of 45-year-old Chad Bertrand of Watseka. He was jailed in Iroquois County on charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.

Watseka Police wrapped a five-day investigation with assistance from the Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Children’s Advocacy Center. A juvenile contacted authorities about the alleged assault.

Officers also executed a warrant at a W. Hickory Street residence leading to weapons charges against Bertrand. He’s also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a felon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Officers located a sawed-off shotgun inside the residence.
