Watseka house fire displaces six

The Red Cross was notified to assist Watseka residents after fire damaged their home Thursday afternoon. Three adults and three children were housed temporarily following the emergency call to 526 E. Locust Street. Watseka Fire and Riverside Ambulance answered the call at 3:15 pm.

Watseka Fire Chief Tim Ketchum said those residents home at the time made it out safely without injury. Ketchum said the fire, found in an upstairs bedroom, was contained to that room and part of the hallway. Smoke and water damage was reported. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.
