Trick-R-Treating Allowed, Safety Precautions suggested

The law enforcement community says trick-or-treating is being allowed in several towns on Halloween. However, everyone is urged to follow the recommended state guidelines in order to keep everyone safe. Most Trick-or-treating will take place on Saturday, October 31st. Hours vary, so make sure you know what you’re local officials have arranged.

The Illinois Department of Public Health says that kids should maintain six feet of distance between each other and to wear a face mask. A costume is not a substitute for a mask. Candy is recommended to be placed on a table. People are encouraged to wash their hands before eating any candy. Police advise residents should leave a light on outside if they want kids to come to their houses for candy.

Health officials are also insisting people wear a mask. In light of the recent COVID outbreaks and the positive tests coming back, health officials say too many businesses are stepping back from the required rules for wearing a mask. The coronavirus is transmitted airborne and the undetected consequences can happen within any home or business setting.
