The first measurable amount of snowfall for the season has led to drivers experiencing slick roads and crashes today (Wed). IDOT crews and local public works staff were busy last night and earlier today pre-treating roads, overpasses and bridge decks. Drivers should make sure to buckle uo and be aware of changing road conditions.

IDOT has prepared for the season, snowplow operators and additional temporary employees are hired for the winter season. IDOT reports 1,815 trucks ready for the months ahead. IDOT’s Paul Wappel said the pandemic might play a role in available help this season. He said patience is key.
