Several area fire departments and fire districts are sharing $3.5 million in grants. The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall announced recipients of the Small Equipment Grant Program. A total of 154 departments and EMS providers were recognized from 540 applications. The Small Equipment Grant Program provides grants of up to $26,000 for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment.
Recipients include the Papineau Fire Protection District, Melvin Fire Protection District, Chatsworth, Forrest-Strawn-Wing, Emington-Campus Protection District, Bismarck and Carroll Township, and Mokena and Steger fire districts.
