Saturday is Drug Take-Back Day

                          Collections in Watseka and Kankakee

The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department, Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, KAMEG, and other law enforcement agencies in Kankakee County are teaming with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (Saturday) to provide the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

The DEA’s 19th nationwide Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday at several locations.

Unwanted, expired drugs can be disposed of by dropping them off at the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department (west door of the Jail). Saturday hours are from 10 am ‘til 2 pm.

In Kankakee County – drugs can be dropped off at the Northfield Square Mall 11 am ‘til 3 pm Visitors are asked to use the center court entrance.

The nationwide event started 10 years ago. Last fall, Americans turned in nearly 883,000 pounds of prescription drugs at nearly 6,300 sites operated by the DEA and almost 5,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
