Hoopeston Police Chief James DeWitt is announcing the promotion of one of his patrolmen. Officer Ryan Garfield will move to full-time status, effective August 5. Garfield joined the Hoopeston department as a part-time officer in March.
Garfield was born and raised in Watseka. He started his law enforcement career with the Watseka Police Department, where he spent 11 years. Garfield now lives with his wife and children in Hoopeston.
