The Kankakee County law enforcement community escorted the body of a Momence police officer to the county morgue today (Thursday). An autopsy is planned following the sudden death of Officer Troy Jacobson of Kankakee. He was pronounced dead at Amita St. Mary’s Hospital after apparently being stricken at work. His patrol car was involved in a traffic accident early today (Thursday). The Coroner’s Office reported Jacobson phoned his wife to say he wasn’t feeling good and was on his way back to the police station. The patrol vehicle left the road near River and Dixie Highway and crashed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital about 1:30. Illinois State Police are investigating.
