Local police beat: Watseka driver arrested after hitting squad car

Watseka Police responded to a report of a man passed out in a vehicle at Route 24 and Jefferson Street.a little before 5 pm Monday.  44-year-old Raymond Cook now faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle.  An officer parked in front of Cook's vehicle and once the driver woke up, he put the vehicle in gear and struck the squad car.

In Hoopeston --- city police arrested 43-year-old Jason Kinnaird of Hoopeston.  He was wanted on a warrant in Vermilion County for possession of METH. He was jailed in Danville.
